Registration for the 2025 Diversity Visa Program (also known as the Green Card Lottery or the Visa Lottery) is now open from October 4, 2023 to November 7, 2023. Registration is free. Entries can be submitted at https://dvprogram.state.gov.

The Diversity Visa Program allows people from countries with low U.S. immigration rates to register for a chance to apply for a U.S. immigrant visa

The 2025 Diversity Visa Program provides permanent resident visas or green cards to foreign citizens in countries with low immigration rates to the United States in the previous five years. To be eligible for this program, the applicant will need to have a high school education, or its equivalent, and two years of qualifying work experience. Being selected for the DV program makes individuals eligible to apply for an immigrant visa but does not guarantee an interview or a visa will be issued. Applicants selected must file a separate application beginning on October 1, 2024 and receive their immigrant visa by September 30, 2025.

There is no fee to enter the DV program

Only one entry per person will be accepted, and individuals with more than one entry will be disqualified. Late entries will not be accepted. Selections will be made in May 2024 and will be announced by the Department of State at dvprogram.state.gov/ESC.
