This course focuses on summary judgments in the insurance litigation context. Often, the way an insurance claim is investigated and documented during the claims adjustment process will make the critical difference in obtaining or defending summary judgment both in the first-party coverage context and with respect to bad faith.

Claims adjusters will benefit from a discussion of Chapter 542 in the context of summary judgments; and noteworthy Texas cases where summary judgments were obtained/defeated related to claims handling. After completion of this course, adjusters will be fully versed in Texas law governing summary judgments; and how the claims adjustment and investigation process impacts summary judgments.
