Each August, property appraisers in Florida send out Truth In Millage (TRIM) notices to all property owners. These TRIM notices show the property tax assessments for 2012, as well as estimated taxes for the year. Property owners have just 25 days from the mailing of the TRIM notice to review the valuation and challenge the assessment on the property.

We advise our clients who own Florida property to pay close attention to their TRIM notices as soon as they are received. County property appraisers are continuing to search for additional tax base and it is imperative that property owners stay aware of potential increases in their property taxes this fall. Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. has a property tax team that can help you with all your property tax questions, from initial review of the assessment value on the TRIM notice through official challenges at the Value Adjustment Board (VAB), as well as filing a civil suit challenging an adverse decision by the VAB. Please contact Jim Spoonhour or Brendan Lynch for more information.
