On Tuesday, June 5, 2018, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners considered a proposal to raise transportation impact fee rates for all developments located in the central and northern sections of Lake County by over five times their current rate. The proposed ordinance can be found here. After some discussion among the board members and public comment, the Board of County Commissioners ultimately decided to indefinitely postpone the proposed increase to transportation impact fees. Therefore, until further action by the Board, the existing rates for transportation impact fees will remain unchanged. This also means that the existing practices that would be abolished as a result of the ordinance—including pre-prepayment of impact fees—will remain intact.
