On Sept. 19, 2012, NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) and the Mayo Clinic announced that NorthShore will be affiliated as a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. NorthShore, which operates four hospitals in the northern suburbs of Chicago, entered into a multiyear agreement with Mayo that will allow NorthShore patients quick access to Mayo specialists and research in cardiovascular, cancer and neurological cases. In addition, NorthShore physicians will have access to the Mayo Clinic's electronic medical record and advanced data collection systems to develop best care practices, enhanced clinical decision making and improved patient outcomes. The multiyear agreement, which is scheduled to begin on Oct. 1, 2012, formalizes a longstanding relationship between NorthShore and Mayo.

NorthShore is the most recent health system to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network. The Mayo Clinic Care Network represents nonownership relationships. Members are organizations that share similar philosophies on patient care and a goal of improving the delivery of healthcare in their communities through high-quality, collaborative medical care.
