OFAC updated its Cuban Assets Control Regulations and related FAQs to, among other things, remove the authorization for lodging and related transactions at Cuban properties identified by the Secretary of State as affiliated with the Cuban government or the Cuban Communist Party.
In addition, OFAC amended several general licenses to (i) restrict the import of Cuban-origin alcohol and tobacco products into the United States and (ii) prohibit persons subject to U.S. jurisdiction from attending or organizing professional meetings in Cuba. OFAC also rescinded a general license authorizing persons subject to U.S. jurisdiction to take part in "certain public performances, clinics, workshops, other athletic or non-athletic competitions and exhibitions" and replaced it with a licensing policy.
The updated regulations are effective immediately.
