Counterintelligence ("DGCIM") "for operating in
Venezuela's defense and security sector." OFAC highlighted
the DGCIM's involvement in human rights abuses and the
"politically motivated" arrest and murder of Venezuelan
Navy Captain Rafael Acosta Arévelo. This action was taken
pursuant to Executive Order 13850.
