The Connecticut General Assembly's Labor and Public
Employees Committee is drafting a bill designed to prevent
employers from requiring employees or potential employees to
provide passwords to their private accounts (such as Facebook or
LinkedIn).
Proposed Bill No. 159, titled "An Act Concerning Employee
Privacy," would "prevent current or potential employers
from requesting or requiring that employees or potential employees

their employment." The Labor and Public Employees Committee
voted to draft the bill on February 28, 2013. We will continue to
monitor it as it moves through the legislative process.
