The planned addition of solar panels to the roof of King's College Chapel, perhaps the most distinctive landmark in Cambridge, is a powerful example of how existing structures, even ancient and beloved ones, can embrace modern technology to fit into a changing world. It's bound to be quite a striking sight from above!
And of course, it's also a reminder of the continuing need to develop solar technologies to make use of the largest energy source of all.
The plans, which form one facet of the College's strategy to decarbonise its operations by 2038, will meet 100% of the energy needs of the Chapel and will reduce the College's carbon emissions by more than 27 tonnes each year
