At a time when youth unemployment in Wales is at a record high we are keen to work with social landlords to support young people and grow ambitions.

It is for this reason that Morgan Cole's Social Housing team developed Growing Ambitions. We want to change the way that we deliver our CSR objectives to our RSL clients, and to local Welsh communities.

Growing Ambitions is a work experience scheme for 15-16 year olds offered to the tenants of our social housing clients. The scheme ran for the first time this summer and was a great success. Students had hands on experience of what life is like in a law firm. During the week long placement they developed their skills by attending workshops on CV writing, presentation skills and how to attend a job interview. Students also attended talks by trainee solicitors and HR about routes into law. Some of the highlights were the mock negotiation session where the students argued their points with great enthusiasm and the afternoon at court with a questions and answer session with a judge.

We are delighted that the first year ran so well and would like to thank all those who participated and in particular V2C and Wales and West for their collaboration. Next year's scheme is currently being planned and we hope to see more housing providers represented.

As a result of the summer's success we are proud to announce we have been short listed both a Law Society Awards and a Welsh Housing Award.
