Turkey Initiated Surveillance System for Import of Potatoes

Turkey initiated a surveillance system until 31 December 2020 (including this date) for import of potatoes, having tax code 0701.90, of which CIF value is below USD 500 per gross tones.

Application for issuance of surveillance certificate is made through the website of Turkish Trade Ministry (www.ticaret.gov.tr) with e-signature as well as website namely (www.turkiye.gov.tr). In case of failure of application due to electronic problems, applications can also be made by submitting physical documents.

Surveillance certificates to be issued will be valid for six months.

Turkey initiated a surveillance system to be applied as of the effective date of the relevant Communiqué for import of "Watermelons", having tax code 0807.11.00.00.00, of which customs value is below USD 300 per gross tones.

Application for issuance of surveillance certificate is made through the website of Turkish Trade Ministry (www.ticaret.gov.tr) with e-signature as well as website namely (www.turkiye.gov.tr). In case of failure of application due to electronic problems, the application can also be made by submitting physical documents.

Surveillance certificates to be issued will be valid for six months.

Turkey Extended Periods for Tariff Quotas Applied in Paddy Rice Imports

With the Decision on Application of Tariff Quotas in Paddy Rice Imports brought by the Presidential Decree dated 2 April 2020 and numbered 2349, a tariff quota was made available until 31 May 2020 for "Rice found in husks (paddy rice)" having tax code 1006.10, of which quantity was determined as 100.000 tons and customs tax rate as 0%. The same Presidential Decree determined that import licenses to be issued thereof would be valid until 31 May 2020.

Periods stipulated under the Presidential Decree numbered 2349 have been extended by the Presidential Decree dated 30 April 2020 and numbered 2482. Accordingly, the end of period for tariff quotas and validity period for import licenses have been extended until 30 June 2020.
