We have been unofficially informed by the authorities that the Ministry of Finance has proposed to the Government that certain provisions of Presidential Decree No 685 of 8 May 1996, which were supposed to come into force as of 1 January 1998, are further delayed. These, in particular, relate to the introduction of new depreciation rates and a more liberal approach to profits tax deductions. The introduction of these provisions had already been once postponed from 1 January 1996 to 1 January 1997.
