WASHINGTON, DC -- (July 12, 2022) -- Seyfarth announced today the arrivals of partner Amy C. Hoang, counsel Erica L. Bakies, and associate Sarah F. Burgart to the firm's Litigation department and Government Contracts practice group in Washington, DC. Hoang joins Seyfarth as co-chair of its national Government Contracts practice group. All three attorneys join from the Washington, DC office of K&L Gates, where Hoang served as practice group coordinator of its Government Contracts and Procurement Policy group.

Hoang represents federal contractors in a large range of areas, including compliance counseling, contract/subcontract negotiation, M&A due diligence, internal investigations, and representation in bid protests and claims, with a focus on bid protest litigation. Her compliance counseling experience includes cybersecurity, IP/data rights, domestic sourcing requirements, small business rules, and non-traditional government contracts programs. Hoang received her J.D. and B.A., with honors, from Washington and Lee University.

"Continuing to grow the firm's Government Contracts practice is a top priority for our department and we are fortunate to add Amy, Erica, and Sarah to our elite team," said James McGrath, chair of Seyfarth's Litigation department.

"We are excited to welcome Amy to our leadership team as we strategically expand our government contracts service offerings nationwide," the co-chairs of Seyfarth's Government Contracts practice group, Adam Lasky and Don Featherstun, said in a joint statement. "Amy, Erica, and Sarah are impressive lawyers who bring excellent credentials and proven track records of success."

In addition to representing a broad range of businesses on federal procurement issues, Bakies has significant proficiency in international trade and national security matters. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the American University Washington College of Law and her B.A. from the College of William and Mary.

Burgart frequently represents companies on bid protests before the US Government Accountability Office and also advises clients on foreign investment matters and their emerging cybersecurity compliance needs. She earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Duke University.

"Amy, Erica, and Sarah have developed excellent reputations among their colleagues and clients. They each embody the professional and personal qualities that define our office and firm," said Christa Dommers, managing partner of Seyfarth's Washington, DC office.

Seyfarth's Government Contracts practice group has significantly grown in recent years. Since 2020, among others, the firm has added Adam Lasky and Meghan Douris in Seattle from Oles Morrison, and Stephanie Magnell in Washington, DC, who joined from the Government Accountability Office where she served as Deputy Assistant General Counsel for Procurement Law and Bid Protest Hearing Officer.
