Tom Ferber, partner in Pryor Cashman's Litigation, Intellectual Property and Media + Entertainment Groups, will be a panelist and moderator at the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Meeting at the New York State Bar Association's 2019 Annual Meeting. Tom's panel, entitled "Underlying Rights Disputes in the Courts," will discuss recent litigation involving underlying rights owners and their estates challenging authorized adaptations of pre-existing works (such as the recent To Kill A Mockingbird case), instances where rights owners have complained about unauthorized uses, and disputes among producers. The panel will also offer best practices for negotiating rights and drafting agreements that minimize potential claims from the outset.
