Carpmaels & Ransford is pleased to welcome Christopher Stothers and Kevin Cordina as partners, further strengthening the firm's Litigation and Engineering & Tech teams.

Christopher joins the firm's Litigation team from Freshfields, bringing more than two decades of experience managing complex, cross-border disputes in the life sciences and technology sectors. Widely regarded as one of Europe's leading patent litigators, Christopher has extensive experience before the UK courts, the Unified Patent Court and the European Patent Office.

He is particularly known for his work at the intersection of intellectual property, antitrust and pharmaceutical regulatory law. His arrival further strengthens the firm's market-leading expertise in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices, as well as its growing UPC practice.

Dr Jennifer Antcliff, Head of Litigation at Carpmaels & Ransford, said:

"Our Litigation group is growing rapidly in response to increasing demand from our clients to act on their most technically and legally challenging cases. With decades of experience, and an enviable track record at the EPO and UPC, Christopher is a fantastic addition to our team and perfectly placed to steer our clients through complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation."

Kevin has joined the firm's Engineering & Tech group from Simmons & Simmons, where he was Head of IP in the London office. A UK and European Patent Attorney, Kevin advises technology and healthcare companies on the development, protection and enforcement of their intellectual property.

His expertise spans electronics, telecommunications, software and medical devices, with particular experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, international portfolio management, EPO opposition proceedings and standards-essential patents. Kevin works with organisations ranging from start-ups to multinational businesses, helping them build and manage commercially valuable patent portfolios.

John Brunner, Partner and Head of Engineering & Tech at Carpmaels & Ransford, said:

"We are excited to welcome Kevin to our team. His technical prowess, patent portfolio management and disputes experience make him an ideal fit for us."

"As we look back and celebrate the firm's achievements over the last 250 years, we also have a keen eye on the future, investing in exceptional individuals like Kevin, and evolving our offering to ensure we continue to offer world-class patent advice to our clients across all major technology areas."

The appointments reflect the firm's continued investment in its key services during its 250th anniversary year and support the continued growth of its patent litigation and prosecution practices.
