Goodwin practices and lawyers received the most wins in firm history at the 2026 LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards, held September 10 in New York City. Among the practice honors, Goodwin was named Corporate Firm of the Year for the second consecutive year and, for the third time, was recognized as FDA Litigation & Enforcement Firm of the Year and Life Cycle Firm of the Year for the United States. The Life Cycle Firm of the Year award recognizes Goodwin for having an all-encompassing Life Sciences practice capable of meeting the varied needs of clients across the life sciences ecosystem.
Goodwin’s FDA Litigation group, led by Brian Burgess, advises clients on pre-litigation strategy and litigation, while the firm’s Life Sciences Regulatory and Compliance practice handles complex regulatory matters involving the FDA, HHS OIG, DOJ, DEA, and SEC. These capabilities complement the firm’s market-leading Life Sciences IP Litigation practice, which handles high-stakes pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biologics, and medical device disputes, including Hatch-Waxman and biosimilars matters, and its Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation team, which represents clients before the U.S. Supreme Court, federal and state appellate courts, and in complex trial-level motions and challenges to laws, regulations, and agency actions.
Partner Kevin Martin, co-chair of Goodwin’s Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation practice, was selected as Appellate Litigator of the Year – Intellectual Property.
Goodwin partner Elaine Blais, co-chair of the firm’s IP Litigation practice, was named General Patent Litigator of the Year – New England for the fifth time.
Partner Julie Tibbets, chair of Goodwin’s Life Sciences Regulatory & Compliance practice and co-chair of the firm’s Rare Disease Initiative, was recognized as Regulatory Attorney of the Year: FDA Pharmaceutical.
Gabriel Ferrante, an associate in Goodwin’s IP Litigation group whose practice spans pre-suit investigation through trial and appeals, was named US Rising Star – Intellectual Property.
Additionally, Goodwin received the Impact Deal of the Year Award for the fifth consecutive year. This year, the firm was recognized for advising Aktis Oncology on its $365.4 million upsized initial public offering. Aktis is a clinical-stage oncology company focused on expanding the breakthrough potential of targeted radiopharmaceuticals to large patient populations, including those not addressed by existing platform technologies. The Goodwin team was led by Michael Shuster, Maria C. Smith, Kuwaba O’Brien, Christopher Bodle, Catherine Amaya, Chris McKenna, Vicki Vann, Danielle Moten, Tavid Bingham, Svetlana Klein, and Jerri Williams.
The firm was also recognized with Patent Impact Case of the Year for securing a significant patent appeal victory for Teva in Teva Pharmaceuticals (“Teva”) v. Eli Lilly & Co. (“Lilly”), marking the second time the firm has won in this category. The appeal arose from a $176.5 million trial verdict that a cross-office Goodwin team won for Teva against Lilly in the District of Massachusetts in 2022. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.
