CHICAGO (July 27, 2026) – Holland & Knight has expanded its legal profession, legal services transactions and litigation teams with the addition of Partner Michael Zhang in Chicago. Mr. Zhang focuses his practice on legal ethics, professional responsibility and complex disputes involving licensed professionals facing high-stakes civil litigation and disciplinary scrutiny. He was previously a partner with a national law firm based in Chicago.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Zhang served as litigation counsel and senior counsel at the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) in the Supreme Court of Illinois, where he investigated and prosecuted claims of attorney misconduct and developed substantial experience in bar regulatory proceedings.

The addition of Mr. Zhang follows the recent arrivals of Chicago-based Partners Elizabeth Garlovsky and Thomas Geraghty in June.

"Michael is a highly respected attorney whose combination of regulatory prosecution experience and private practice makes him an outstanding addition to our team," said Trisha Rich, chair of the Firm's Legal Profession Team and co-leader of the Firm's Legal Services Transactions Team. "Michael has spent his entire career working in the area of legal ethics and the regulation of the profession of law. This is an increasingly important skill set as legal professionals face increasing scrutiny and litigation. We are confident Michael will further solidify Holland & Knight as a market leader in the representation of lawyers, law firms and other stakeholders in the legal industry."

"Having spent my career on both sides of the regulatory process, I have a thorough understanding of how professional responsibility matters unfold from investigation through resolution," Mr. Zhang said. "As regulatory scrutiny of licensed professionals continues to grow, Holland & Knight's platform gives me the opportunity to combine my regulatory and private practice experience and offer my services to a broader range of clients. I look forward to contributing to the Firm's continued growth in this space."

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Zhang serves as an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, where he teaches legal ethics and trial advocacy. He also regularly speaks on professional responsibility topics at national programs and industry events.

Mr. Zhang received a J.D. degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and a B.A. degree from the University of Calgary.

Holland & Knight's Legal Profession Team and Legal Services Transactions Team are highly regarded for their sophisticated approach to law firm counseling, defense and operations and are market leaders in management services organization (MSO) structuring, alternative business structures (ABS) and regulatory compliance. The teams help lawyers, law firms, in-house legal departments, investors and legal service providers navigate the evolving legal services landscape while minimizing legal, ethical and regulatory risk.
