Beresford Booth is a proud sponsor of the third annual Edmonds Dragon Boat Festival taking place on Friday, July 31st, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the Edmonds Waterfront Center (220 Railroad Ave., Edmonds, WA 98020). Hosted by the Asian Service Center (ASC) of Edmonds, the event is open to everyone. There will be food and refreshments and cultural performances. Attendees will get to view the dragon boats up close…please come and join us!
Background of ASC
The Asian Service Center is a nonprofit organization founded in 2022 to help tackle the issues that immigrants face when trying to access essential services. They offer programs that assist community members in four primary areas of service: health care access, family support, senior care and youth development.
Regarding health care, ASC helps individuals navigate the often-challenging health care system. They hold seminars on Medicare and health insurance. They teach nutrition classes and provide free vaccinations, dental screenings and health consultations.
To support families, ASC provides translation and interpretation services, assistance in the naturalization and citizenship application process, and help in accessing financial assistance programs and understanding the U.S. tax system. They try to find ways to encourage members to become more engaged in the community.
ASC works to help seniors stay safe and prepare for their futures by offering home safety and fall-prevention seminars, workshops on technology and emergency preparedness as well as providing memory-care support to families and assisting with estate planning.
Youth development is a also key part of ASC’s commitment to the community. They offer youth leadership training, college and financial-aid application help and assistance with school supplies to those eligible.
