Ballard Spahr is a finalist for Law Firm of the Year honors from the Colorado Lawyers Committee (CLC), a nonprofit consortium of law firms dedicated to pro bono legal advocacy focusing on major public policy issues and systemic change.

CLC will unveil the Law Firm of the Year and other pro bono awards on September 24 at its 2026 awards luncheon at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Denver.

In 2025, 15 Ballard Spahr legal professionals, including attorneys and paralegals, donated hundreds of pro bono hours to a variety of CLC programs, including the Taylor Ranch Litigation, Hate Crimes Education Program, Hate Crimes Education Program Steering Committee, Nonprofit Legal Audit Clinic, New Immigrant Legal Clinic, and Nonprofit Match Program.

The lawyers and business professionals of Ballard Spahr’s Denver office are known for their pro bono work, community service, and civic leadership. In fact, Ballard Spahr was named CLC’s Law Firm of the Year in 2023. And in 2025, Denver Associates Alexia “Lexi” Chapman and Andrew P. Valencia received the organization’s Impact Award.

In 2025, Ballard Spahr lawyers were among more than 1,200 volunteers who contributed more than 8,500 hours and $5.26 million worth of time to CLC’s 29 projects and task forces. CLC is dedicated to creating and increasing opportunities for children and underserved communities through advocacy, negotiation, and litigation. Notably, CLC focuses on major public policy issues and systemic change, rather than individual representation, unless a case impacts a larger population.

Firm-wide, through its nationally acclaimed Pro Bono program, Ballard Spahr’s lawyers and business professionals contribute more than 50,000 hours each year in pro bono services. Ballard Spahr partners with nonprofit agencies throughout the country to provide free legal services to meet the most pressing needs of our communities. The firm’s pro bono work spans human and civil rights cases, wills and estate planning for veterans and first-responders, intellectual property protection for emerging artists, successful business guidance for entrepreneurs, and representation for low-income individuals and families in a full spectrum of matters, as well as impact litigation and legislative advocacy.
