Ballard Spahr has named Elizabeth (Beth) Morgan as the firm’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). As part of Ballard Spahr’s Executive Committee and Senior Leadership Team, Beth will help drive the firm’s growth strategy and execution.

As COO, Beth will oversee Ballard Spahr’s business operations, lateral growth and integration, finance, marketing and business development, practice administration, talent, human resources, information services, research and intelligence, innovation initiatives, and risk management. Prior to serving as COO, Beth served for over a decade as Director of Practice Management for the Litigation Department—the largest of the firm’s departments—and as the firm’s Chief Practice Management Officer, where she led a team of professionals specializing in practice management, economics analysis, and pricing strategies.

“Beth brings more than two decades of experience at Ballard Spahr, and her leadership has been instrumental to the firm’s ongoing success,” said firm Chair Peter Michaud. “In addition to establishing a leading Practice Management team, Beth has led special projects, including leading the steering committee that facilitated the firm’s integration with Lane Powell, a combination that brought more than 150 attorneys in three new markets to the firm. Her deep knowledge of the firm, strong business acumen, and collaborative approach make Beth well-suited to build on our momentum and lead Ballard’s next chapter.”

Before assuming the role of Chief Practice Management Officer, Beth worked in the firm’s marketing and business development team and began her career at Ballard Spahr in the Drexel University intern program.

“It is a tremendous honor to take on the role of COO of Ballard Spahr, a place that has been such an important part of my professional journey for the past two decades,” said Beth. “Having had the privilege of serving in a variety of leadership roles throughout the firm, I have seen firsthand the dedication and commitment that define our firm. I look forward to working alongside our talented attorneys and business professionals to build on our strong foundation, support our continued growth, and ensure we remain focused on delivering exceptional service to our clients.”
