Genevieve Dee, Partner in our Family team, has worked with Cooper Grace Ward for 6 years. We asked her to tell us in her own words what life at Cooper Grace Ward is like, and a few of her past experiences and favourite things.
- What made you decide to become a lawyer?
I can never remember ever wanting to be anything else.
- How long have you worked at Cooper Grace Ward for and what brought you to that position?
I joined CGW in December 2010. A friend of mine worked in the family law team at the time and knew I was looking to work on more complex matters involving commercial and tax structures. CGW has such a strong reputation in family law, tax and commercial structures that the offer to join the team was one I couldn't pass up.
- If you could invite three people for dinner, dead or alive who would they be and why?
-
- Michelle and Barack Obama (I'm counting them as one person)
- Sheryl Sandberg
- JK Rowling
All of those people are wonderful story tellers so the conversation would be fantastic.
- Where's the best place to go for a drink or dinner after work?
I like somewhere with a water view, like Blackbird or Stokehouse. The most important thing for me though is that there is a great champagne selection and good company.
- What's the best advice you've ever been given?
Write every letter and email as if it will one day be read by a judge or annexed to an affidavit.
- Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I used to have interests outside of work; now I have 10 month old twin boys, so no.
- Complete this sentence: If I wasn't a lawyer, I would be...
A movie director.
- What do you love about your job?
I love it when a client tells me I have helped make things easier for them and their family.
- Something you might not know about me is that...
I have an amateur fight record of 1 win and 1 loss.
