She will join the Madrid office of HSF Kramer as Of Counsel in its Real Estate practice, headed by Tomás Díaz Mielenhausen. Ana Julia joins from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where she worked as counsel within the Global Transactions – Real Estate team, a practice that she led over the past year. She offers close to twenty years of experience advising domestic and international clients on top-tier corporate real estate transactions.
Her practice encompasses the acquisition and sale of asset portfolios — including hotels, office buildings, shopping centres, and logistics warehouses — as well as NPLs and trophy assets, joint ventures, real estate financing, commercial lease agreements, sale & leaseback transactions, and construction contracts.
Her client portfolio includes leading real estate companies, financial investors, REITs (SOCIMIs), investment banks and financial institutions, and other key players in the Spanish real estate market, such as Azora and KKR. Her most notable deals include advising KKR on the establishment of its joint ventures in Spain for the acquisition of the hotel business of the Intertur Group in Mallorca and Ibiza, and its subsequent divestment to the Fattal Group in 2022, as well as its hostel platform; and advising Azora on the creation of joint ventures in both the residential and student housing markets.
Ana Julia has enhanced her skills and experience with international secondments in Freshfields’ London and Frankfurt offices. Her broad-ranging career has earned her ongoing recognition in leading international legal directories: she has been ranked in Chambers Europe since 2017 and placed as a finalist in the Iberian Lawyer Forty under 40 awards in 2019 and 2020. She holds a degree in Law and Business Administration (E-3) from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE) and is a member of the Women in Legal World association.
Eduardo Soler Tappa, managing partner of HSF Kramer’s Madrid office, commented: “Ana Julia’s appointment represents another step forward in our growth and consolidation in Madrid. Her deep knowledge of the Spanish real estate market, her experience in highly complex transactions, and her network of relationships with leading institutional investors are all assets that will immediately add value to our real estate practice. We are delighted to welcome her to the team.”
Tomás Díaz Mielenhausen, partner and head of the Real Estate practice in Madrid, added: “Ana Julia is one of the Spanish real estate sector's leading lawyers. Her broad experience — from M&A and joint ventures to financing and construction contracts — makes her an outstanding addition to our practice. Her arrival will allow us to continue providing top-tier advice to our clients on the market's most sophisticated transactions.”
