Earlier this week, the USA Track and Field (USATF) Board unanimously approved B&D's governance recommendations following a yearlong internal investigation.

The Board’s Audit Committee originally retained B&D to investigate specific issues outlined in a December 2024 Letter of Concern issued by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. The Letter alleged potential noncompliance with the Ted Stevens Olympic & Amateur Sports Act and National Governing Body Compliance Standards.

The B&D team—led by Principals Alyse Adamson, Lou Manzo, and Evynn Overton, Senior Counsel Harold Himmelman, and Senior Associate Jack Zietman—interviewed 21 individuals and reviewed thousands of pages of documents to complete the investigation. The investigation did not find financial fraud, misappropriation of funds, election misconduct, or conflict of interest violations. The report did identify recommendations to strengthen USATF’s governance systems and operational processes, including budgeting, expense management, and election procedures.

In USTAF’s letter to its membership, the Board of Directors noted that the Audit Committee originally selected B&D to lead the investigation based on the firm’s “deep experience in high-profile internal investigations.”

USATF President and Chair of the Board Curt Clausen commented:

“The USATF Board of Directors is grateful to Beveridge & Diamond for their diligence and comprehensive investigation that lies behind this robust report. The Board has accepted B&D’s recommendations and will work with management to ensure the recommendations are implemented in a timely fashion.”

The firm has extensive experience conducting sensitive, high-profile investigations involving regulatory oversight, organizational governance, and institutional integrity.
