We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our long-time friend, colleague and partner, Jean‑François Cloutier, on January 8. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts.

His vibrant personality and deeply human nature will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. Jean‑François had that rare gift of making everyone feel important. In difficult times, he was always there for others, ready to lend a helping hand. His attentive ear, his kindness and his infectious laughter left a lasting impression on all who had the good fortune to cross his path.

He was a tireless worker with a passion for his profession and an energy that was contagious. Although exacting of himself, he was driven by genuine kindness and always sought to raise the bar and to support his colleagues. His availability, dedication and generosity made him a pillar of our team.

Jean-François joined Fasken in 2002, and for over twenty years, he distinguished himself through his professionalism, meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to his clients and colleagues. Recognized as a leading labour and employment lawyer, he advised organizations in both the public and private sectors and taught administrative law at the Québec Bar School (École du Barreau). He was always deeply involved in the firm and led our Labour, Employment & Human Rights practice group for several years. The accolades he received are a testament to the human and professional impact he had everywhere he went.

His family and loved ones are in our thoughts, and it is with deep sadness that we extend our heartfelt condolences to them.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His unforgettable laughter, passion and the values he lived by will continue to inspire us.

Jean-François, thank you for all that you brought to our lives.

Mr. Rhéaume Perreault and Ms. Karine Fournier, heads of our Labour, Employment & Human Rights practice group, are available should you have any questions or concerns.
