Thompson Coburn associate Layla Husen recently completed U.S. Bank's yearlong Spotlight on Talent program, a professional development initiative for rising legal talent at key partner firms. This year's program kicked off in Minneapolis at U.S. Bank headquarters with networking, learning opportunities, and goal-setting activities with bank attorneys and other executive leaders.

Throughout the year, cohort members engaged in leadership meetings, educational sessions, practice group roundtables, and social activities. They collaborated with mentors, deepened their understanding of the financial services industry, and built strong relationships with U.S. Bank Law Division professionals and peers. As part of the program, Layla and a few cohort members presented a CLE to the Law Division on the topic of debanking. Layla's segment focused on debanking enforcement and private litigation trends.

"As a mid-level associate, the program is a unique opportunity to speak one-on-one with general counsel and senior legal executives at a Fortune 500 company," she said. "This experience provided invaluable insight to better serve our clients and I know I will carry it forward in my practice." Layla is working with the U.S. Bank Law Division to spearhead an alumni program, focused on maintaining relationships with the Law Division and the cohort moving forward.

Layla's practice focuses on white collar and government investigations and enforcement as well as complex business litigation. She also played a key role in the high-profile release of Christopher Dunn.
