Today we are celebrating a decade in Chambers Asia-Pacific Rankings. The new guide of 2026 stands apart for one more achievement, we made a leap upward in the ranking of one of our core practices

  • Energy & Natural Resources is now proudly Band 2.

Energy is a sector where Unicase has led from the front for more than a decade, contributing to Kazakhstan's and Central Asia's transition from traditional power systems to cleaner, more resilient and more diversified energy markets. From the first renewable legislation to today's most ambitious regional projects, we have been at the centre of the industry's evolution.

We also maintained strong positions across our key practices:

  • Band 3 in Corporate and Finance
  • Band 3 in Dispute Resolution

This year has been transformational for our firm. We welcomed new team members from diverse sectors into our practice, including three Counsels, and expanded our capabilities across banking & finance, tax, and capital markets. As we continue to reach higher, we remain deeply grateful to our senior partners for their leadership, to our clients for their trust, and to the Chambers research team for recognising the quality of our work.

"Unicase is distinguished by its unparalleled technical rigour, commercial acumen, and responsiveness to evolving market demands." - Chambers and Partners, 2026

These recognitions belong to every member of our team, and we are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our partners and department leaders highlighted in the guide:

  • Saniya Perzadayeva, Band 3 in Corporate & Finance and Energy & Natural Resources - highlighted her "exceptional attention to detail and strong understanding of regulatory nuances."
  • Raushana Chaltabayeva, Band 2 in Energy & Natural Resources - recognised as "an attentive, reliable and proactive specialist."
  • Artem Timoshenko, Band 4 in Dispute Resolution - mentioned his "ability to combine legal insight with practical risk awareness which is particularly valuable in a complex regulatory setting."

A closer look at three standout projects featured in this year's Guide:

  • The Unicase Energy team is advising on the organisation of two auctions for the construction of 1 GW wind power plants with integrated Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Kostanay, with a total project value of USD 7 million, in cooperation with the EBRD. We provide full legal support to create a bankable, investor-ready framework, ensuring legislative compliance, structuring risk allocation, overseeing the tender process, and supporting negotiations and contract finalisation. As one of the largest renewable initiatives in the country, this project is expected to multiply regional electricity output several times.
  • The Unicase Corporate team has advised the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China on establishing the first China Cultural Center in Astana. This initiative was undertaken under the Intergovernmental Agreement on the mutual establishment of cultural centres signed between China and Kazakhstan in November 2023 — it is a bridge between two cultures, two governments, and two societies.
  • The Unicase Litigation team provided pro bono legal support to the headquarters of Special Olympics Kazakhstan (KSO), a vital national organisation promoting inclusion and empowerment for people with intellectual disabilities. The project includes a legal review of the organisation's activities, covering internal document analysis, consultations on the charter and procedures, and assistance with legal disputes.

We would like to once again thank our clients and partners for their continued trust, and invite you to visit our Chambers profile for a detailed overview of our rankings.
