The Indonesia Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), in collaboration with SSEK Law Firm, hosted a webinar, "Unlocking Indonesia – Market Entry & Investment Strategies for Canadian Businesses," to help Canadian companies understand Indonesia's legal, regulatory, and commercial landscape as they consider entering one of Asia's most dynamic markets.
The session highlighted Indonesia's growing economic potential and provided practical guidance on investment structuring, licensing, compliance and sector opportunities.
Opening remarks by the Ambassadors of Canada and Indonesia underscored the strengthening bilateral relationship and the increasing interest from Canadian investors. Greg Elms of ICCC offered an overview of Indonesia's market scale and priority sectors.
SSEK Partner Stephen Igor Warokka delivered key insights on market entry pathways, PT PMA establishment, investment restrictions, and employment and immigration considerations for expatriate hires. SSEK Associate Dian Kirana discussed essential intellectual property protections and related technology transfer and data considerations for foreign businesses.
The webinar concluded with best-practice sharing from Jim Webb of Hatfield Indonesia, who drew on long-standing Canadian business experience in the country. The event provided participants with a clear, practical foundation for planning or expanding their operations in Indonesia.
