Partner DeAnn Smith was recognized among the Top Women of Law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. This annual award is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the legal profession while also serving as role models for women entering the law.
DeAnn, who was recently elected to the firm's Executive Committee, brings more than three decades of experience as a trusted advisor to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies as well as academic and research institutions around the world. She has a global patent counseling practice which includes litigation and transactional matters. DeAnn has been involved in numerous PTAB proceedings, EPO oppositions and appeals and patent infringement matters, including litigation before the International Trade Commission.
The publication's profile on DeAnn also highlighted her leadership roles in both the legal and local community, which includes helping incarcerated women prepare for release through jail Recovery Pod programs and the College Behind Bars program. In addition, DeAnn currently leads a pro bono case for Home Kids in Need of Defense (KIND).
