Foley Hoag attorneys Arsalan Suleman and Hampton Dellinger
recently filed an
amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court arguing in favor of
protections from Presidential removal for leaders of bipartisan,
multi-member agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission. The
Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic headed by Prof. Harold Koh served
as co-counsel. The brief was filed on behalf of two dozen former
high-ranking Republican officials. More information is available
here.
Dellinger also
joined FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter, on whose behalf the
brief was filed, and other former leaders of independent agencies
at a forum hosted by the Penn Carey Law School at the University of
Pennsylvania.
