Manatt Bankruptcy Partner Schuyler Carroll was selected as a recipient of City Bar Justice Center's 2025 Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award for his work with their Consumer Bankruptcy Project.

In one of his pro bono cases, Carroll represented the Okra Project, a nonprofit focused on supporting Black Trans people and alleviating barriers, in connection with a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case of the nonprofit Arts Business Collaborative (ABC). Okra was the largest creditor of ABC, which allegedly filed bankruptcy to avoid paying Okra. After the bankruptcy filing, ABC objected to Okra's claim and asserted that Okra was not entitled to repayment. Manatt opposed ABC and after a mediation, ultimately obtained a favorable settlement for Okra.

The Manatt team which assisted Okra included Partner Schuyler Carroll and Associates Arman BorazjaniBryce Brenda and Nick Perkins
