London – Mayer Brown has advised Averna Capital and its portfolio company Study International on the acquisition of Sun Education Group, one of the leading overseas education consultancies in Southeast Asia, providing consultancy services to students looking to study overseas. With 27 locations and 230 employees, Sun Education Group is Indonesia's largest study abroad agency, placing over 2,000 students a year, primarily to universities in Australia, and also in the UK, the US, New Zealand and Canada.
The team was led by Private Equity partner Justin Tan, supported by senior associate Anzhen Chng and associate Robin Koh (all Singapore). Private Equity partner Tarun Patel and associate Alex Potten in London advised Study International on the English law aspects of the transaction.
