Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (HSF Kramer) has advised Hesperia on the development of the Orthonova Orthopaedic Hospital in Perth, Western Australia - a first-of-its-kind collaboration between St John of God Health Care, leading orthopaedic surgeons and Hesperia.
HSF Kramer assisted in preparing and negotiating a construct-only contract between Hesperia and Built Pty Ltd. The project included detailed interface arrangements to manage the direct connection of Orthonova Orthopaedic Hospital to the existing operational St John of God Murdoch Hospital.
Once complete in early 2027, Orthonova Orthopaedic Hospital will deliver world-class care to around 4,000 patients each year, create more than 200 new jobs and achieve a 5-Star Green Star rating for sustainability.
HSF Kramer previously advised Hesperia on the development of multiple packages on Murdoch Square within the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct, including a nine-storey aged care facility; 13-storey hotel and residential building; six-storey retail and commercial office building; six-storey medical suites building with a rooftop childcare centre; and a 10-storey integrated healthcare building complete with WA's first medihotel.
The HSF Kramer team was led by partner Dan Zador, senior associate Maja La Rosa and solicitor Sean Frewin.
Partner Dan Zador said: "It was pleasure to work again with the Hesperia team to deliver yet another development in the fast-growing Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct. The deal required a great deal of coordination and stamina, and Ian Smyth and the rest of the Hesperia team did an amazing job bringing this one to life."
This deal is another example of HSF Kramer's market-leading work in the infrastructure sector.
