Sheppard Mullin earned a "Deal of the Year" Award during the Los Angeles Business Journal's inaugural 2025 M&A Awards, which celebrated the transactions and professionals shaping Southern California's dealmaking landscape. The firm's Corporate practice group and Private Equity team were recognized for representing leading audio and creator-based advertising agency Oxford Road in its transaction with Insignia Capital Group to create the world's largest podcast agency.
The transaction united Oxford Road's international traction and industry innovation with Veritone One's advanced technology stack, data capabilities and creator-led video and influencer expertise. The union addressed a critical gap in the market, offering brands unparalleled access to and performance in podcasting, streaming audio, radio and creator-based video channels. The deal was led by Private Equity team Co-Leader Jordan Hamburger and Associates Eugene Choi and Graham Wardle. Special assistance was provided by John Crisp, Dmitriy Chelnitsky, Michael Chan, Shawn Fabian, Brian Fong, Daniel Yannuzzi, Michael Leake, Julia Kadish, Iman Naieem, Brian Egan, Michael Weisshar, Umar Sattar, Susan Gov, Evan Lim and Jordan Golden.
Sheppard Mullin was also recognized as a "Deal of the Year" finalist for representing Lionsgate its headline-making acquisition of the Entertainment One (eOne) television and film business from Hasbro, Inc., and Healthcare team Co-Leader Eric Klein was named a finalist in the "Attorney of the Year" category.
Hamburger and the firm received the Dealmaker of the Year Award at a private, invitation only event on September 11, 2025, in downtown Los Angeles.
