How policy whiplash could dampen dealmaking across the sector

Andrew Mihalik was featured in a recent Lexpert article titled "How Canada's mining M&A is adapting in 2025 during geopolitical and tariff uncertainty," which explores Canada’s mining sector and how 2025 deals are being shaped by commodity price volatility, shifting trade regimes and regulatory hurdles.

Despite uncertainly in the sector in 2025, deals are getting done. With "gold prices surpassing US$3,000 per ounce, assets that wouldn’t have made sense a year ago are now attractive targets," Andrew notes. While critical minerals remain subdued in terms of deal activity, mining M&A as a whole continues to evolve and legal practitioners continue to guide their clients through this era of disruption and opportunity.
