Goodwin served as Special Tax Counsel to the Celtics and the former ownership group, led by the Grousbeck family, in the sale of a majority control position in the Boston Celtics to an investor group led by William Chisholm. Chisholm won the bidding in March with an offer that valued the franchise at more than $6.1 billion — a record price paid for an American professional sports team. Wyc Grousbeck will continue as a Co-Owner and CEO, running day to day operations with Chisholm and the existing basketball and business management teams.

Founded in 1946, the Boston Celtics are one of the most storied franchises in professional sports, with 18 NBA Championships and over 40 Hall of Famers. Known worldwide for their tradition of excellence, the Celtics have shaped the history of basketball and remain dedicated to winning championships while making a difference in the community.

The Goodwin team consisted of Howard Cubell, George Davis and Nicole Brock.
