Ward and Smith attorney Amy Wooten has been named Vice Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association's Insurance Section 2026 CLE Planning Committee.

In this leadership role, she will help guide the development of the Section's annual continuing legal education program, set for next year.

Amy is no stranger to the planning process. She served on the 2025 CLE Planning Committee that successfully organized the well-attended "Navigating the Complexities of Insurance Law" program held this past February. The event tackled emerging and perennial issues in insurance litigation, drawing practitioners from across the state.

Her new role builds on her continued service to the NCBA's Insurance Law Section, where she serves as a Council Member. Amy regularly works with her peers across North Carolina to develop practical, high-quality programming that helps insurance law practitioners stay ahead of evolving legal trends.

At Ward and Smith, Amy co-chairs the firm's Insurance Counseling and Recovery Practice Group. Her practice focuses on representing policyholders in complex coverage disputes involving commercial property insurance, commercial general liability, professional liability, directors and officers' liability, and other specialized insurance lines like cyber insurance. She also advises clients on risk management and insurance recovery strategies. With a deep understanding of policy language, carrier dynamics, and litigation strategy, Amy brings a practical, real-world perspective that's well suited for shaping CLE programming.
