The new office, located in the heart of downtown Seattle, will be led by litigator and well-known community leader Pallavi Mehta Wahi, who will also serve as the firm’s new Chair of Western U.S. Strategic Growth. The Seattle group also includes corporate, healthcare, and technology partner Annette Becker, and employment and class action partner Patrick Madden. Nationally renowned employment litigator Rosemary Alito joins Arnold & Porter’s Newark office.
Pallavi Mehta Wahi, Seattle (Litigation; Seattle Office Head; Chair of Western U.S. Strategic Growth) represents national and international clients in complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on healthcare, corporate, and intellectual property matters. She has successfully argued before various tribunals and courts in hearings and at trial, and has handled high-stakes and high-volume litigation involving multiple lawsuits, parties, and jurisdictions. Pallavi is equally known for her civic impact and values-driven leadership through her service on the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s board, the Chamber of Commerce, and multiple other nonprofit boards.
Rosemary Alito, Newark(Labor & Employment) represents management in disputes involving employment law and employee benefit law issues. She defends employers in litigation, including class actions, relating to employment discrimination, post-employment restrictions, wrongful termination, harassment, and employee benefit plan terminations. Rosemary also counsels on workplace policies and compliance. She is an experienced litigator in trials and appeals in both state and federal courts.
Annette E. Becker, Seattle (Corporate & Technology; Healthcare) has over 30 years of experience practicing corporate law in a wide range of transactional matters, including U.S. and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, corporate venture capital and other equity investments, and other complex and strategic transactions. She counsels public, private, and nonprofit businesses in the technology, senior housing and care, and healthcare industries, including in navigating the regulatory, operational, and governance considerations that are critical to the success of complex healthcare combinations and collaborations. Annette also advises clients as to transactions involving AI, as well as the legal implications of AI technologies.
Patrick Madden, Seattle (Class Actions; Labor & Employment) has dedicated over 30 years to advising employers on wage and hour and other employment disputes, as well as representing them in wage and hour class actions, agency investigations, and other employment lawsuits. He has worked on hundreds of class actions involving putative classes, ranging from dozens to hundreds of thousands of employees and potential damages ranging from hundreds of thousands to over a billion dollars. These cases have involved such issues as wage calculation and payment, compensation design, entitlement to overtime and benefits, off-the-clock claims, rest and meal period claims, challenges to exempt status, claims to employee status by independent contractors and gig economy workers, unfair business practices, discrimination, and retaliation.
