Assisting clients with tax controversies has been an important part of Latham & Watkins client services since the firm was founded in 1934 by Dana Latham, a former IRS Commissioner, and Paul Watkins. Over the years, our attorneys have tried nearly 100 tax cases in the US Tax Court, US Court of Federal Claims, US District Courts, US Courts of Appeals, the US Supreme Court, and various state trial and appellate courts.

In the last three years, Latham & Watkins has expanded its tax controversy team with the addition of nationally-recognized partners Kim Boylan, Rita Cavanagh and Jerry Kafka, and Susan Seabrook as counsel.
