WASHINGTON DC, August 28, 2024 – Leading international law firm Proskauer, is pleased to share that litigation partner Christopher Ondeck has been shortlisted for the National Winning Litigator Award by the National Law Journal Legal Awards. Chris serves as head of Proskauer's Washington, D.C. office and co-chair of the Firm's Antitrust Group. He is a go-to litigator and trusted advisor for clients in high-profile, high stakes antitrust matters. Chris has 30-years' expertise with the Capper-Volstead Act's application and interpretation for agricultural cooperatives and serves as outside counsel to a large number of industry groups, including trade associations and cooperatives.
In the past year, Chris had a string of successes in the courtroom including winning one of the largest antitrust jury trials of 2023 – and one of the largest in history – by defending Sanderson Farms as the sole non-settling defendant In re Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation, where the direct purchaser plaintiffs alleged $7 billion in damages. Chris and his team also achieved a complete victory at summary judgment on behalf of Wayne Farms, a separate major defendant in Broilers after nearly seven years of litigation. Additionally, Chris served as the lead on behalf of 21 defendants (including Tyson, Pilgrim's Pride, and Perdue), arguing and winning a motion to dismiss one-half of the plaintiffs' key theories alleging a hub-and-spoke price-fixing conspiracy.
