Harness IP is pleased to announce that Paul E. Zarek, Ph.D., has been elevated to Associate in the firm's Metro St. Louis office.
Zarek, who served eight years as a Patent Agent for the firm, recently passed the Missouri Bar. His practice focuses on counseling inventors within the biological, biopharma, and life sciences industries on matters including small molecule therapeutics, biologics, medical devices, and a wide variety of disease treatment protocols. As a Patent Agent, he gained considerable experience guiding clients through the entire patent prosecution process. He is well versed in Freedom to Operate issues and frequently provides clients with patent landscape reporting. His lifelong fascination with science and biology boosts his meticulous counsel on highly technical and complex patent prosecutions.
Prior to joining the firm, Zarek was a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he approved patents for major pharmaceutical companies, academic research institutions, and pro se inventors. He holds a Ph.D. in pharmacology and molecular science. His thorough understanding of a patent's subject matter and the patent process ensures the highest quality patent applications.
While working as a Patent Agent, Zarek earned his juris doctor degree at Saint Louis University School of Law. He received his doctoral degree from The Johns Hopkins University. He holds dual undergraduate degrees in biology and English from Georgetown University.
