Palo Alto/San Francisco, May 17, 2023 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international technology and energy law firm, is pleased to announce that the Daily Journal named partners G. Hopkins Guy, Sarah Guske and Eliot Williams to its list of 'Top Intellectual Property Lawyers' for 2023.

This list is compiled from hundreds of nominations submitted by lawyers in California, with the editors selecting nominees based on the impact of their work in intellectual property.

The publication highlighted Guy's recent victory for client Dish Network LLC, where a federal jury reversed a $470 million award post-trial on the defense's judgment as a matter of law motion.

It also highlighted another win for Dish and co-defendant Sling TV in which the International Trade Commission issued limited exclusion orders and cease and desist orders prohibiting the unlicensed importation and distribution of fitness devices, streaming components thereof, and systems sold by Peloton and Icon Health & Fitness subsidiary iFit. On May 4th, Peloton paid Dish $75 million to avoid the risk of the ITC import ban. The case remains pending against iFit. Guy tried the case with colleague Lisa Kattan, who heads Baker Botts' ITC Litigation practice.

Daily Journal also shed light on Guske's win for tracking device maker Tile, achieving a final motion to dismiss a patent challenge after three years of litigation. The court found all asserted claims patent ineligible.

Separately, the publication noted that Guske is one of the few women lawyers who, along with her JD, holdssumma cum laudeundergraduate degrees in physics and electrical engineering.

The publication also highlighted Williams' busy practice, noting he has appeared as counsel in more than 272 Patent Trials and Appeals Board trials and currently has 63 active cases, which puts him in the top 25 most-experienced PTAB litigators in the nation.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Williams, co-chair of the firm's PTAB practice group, has been included on the list.
