Global law firm Shearman & Sterling is serving as pro bono counsel to USRowing – the national governing body of the sport of rowing that operates under the auspices of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee – in response to recent reports of alleged sexual abuse by a coach.

Shearman & Sterling is conducting an independent investigation into the allegations that former U.S. rower and team coach Ted A. Nash engaged in sexual contact with a minor in the early 1970s. The allegations were loosely portrayed in the 2018 movie "The Tale". The firm will prepare a report after it concludes the investigation.

USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee as the governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. USRowing selects, trains and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition, including the world championships, Pan American Games, and Olympic Games.
