The Civil Law and Criminal Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act
2020 (the "Act") was signed in to law on 6 August 2020
with most provisions commenced on 21 August 2020. The Act reflects
a substantial modernisation and reform of certain aspects of our
legal system and is certainly a welcome development.
The Act is an omnibus one and addresses various matters, however
this advisory focuses on the introduction of statements of truth
into Irish law for the first time. Please see our advisories here and here which address
the various other changes brought about by this new Act.
