The Malta Gaming Authority has published guidelines related to the technical infrastructure used by remote gaming operators and licensees to host gaming and related control systems. The Guidelines are based on the public consultation that took place, the assessment of the feedback received as well as the MGA's approach towards the use of cloud solutions within the online gaming industry.
The Guidelines are intended for operators, licencees, service providers and other relevant stakeholders, to provide insight onto the MGA's regulatory requirements and compliance objectives with regards to technical infrastructure when evaluating a technical set-up. The MGA's aim is to update its approach to fit the fast-moving industry's needs and provide for a technological environment with adequate levels of security and data integrity for supervisory purposes, including regular inspections, auditing and ad-hoc investigations.
Whilst ensuring adequate levels of supervision over gaming and control systems to safeguard players and its regulatory interests, the MGA is also striving to offer operators the necessary flexibility in exploiting technology, including cloud-based solutions to operate efficiently and effectively.
