On October 17, the CNIL
provided guidance on using devices to measure audiences and
track attendance or flows of visitors in public spaces (source
document in French). The CNIL explained that such rules do not
apply to devices that do not collect personal data. The CNIL
provided examples of scenarios for anonymizing and pseudonymizing
this data and provided guidance on the need for a DPIA.
