The Government of SR approved regulations to continue and further the process of economical and social transformation and to overcome the partial discrepancies in macro and microeconomic stability. The above regulations are known as the Package of the Economic Measures (see June Tax News).
One of the measures is the reintroduction of the import surcharge.
In addition, with the effect from 1 August 1997, the price of electricity for companies and entrepreneurs will increase by an average of 10%. This increase should cause an increase in the prices of goods and services by about 4% to 5%. The price of electricity for households may also be increased in the near future.
