The Alberta Pilot Program will be suspended as of February 22, 2021 as part of a broader introduction of new COVID-19 travel restrictions.

On January 29, 2021, we released a blog about the Government of Canada's new nation-wide travel restrictions, which is to be formally implemented on February 22, 2021, that will see flights to the south grounded and a new hotel quarantine requirement for international air travelers entering Canada.

Following these announcements, the Government of Alberta has confirmed that they will suspend the Alberta COVID-19 Border Testing Pilot Program on February 22, 2021. Until further notice, international travelers with a final destination in Alberta will no longer benefit from this provincial-specific reduced quarantine time and will instead be subject to the new national rules.
