Eight months after the introduction of the mandatory data breach notification laws in Australia, Technology Partner Dudley Kneller writes for the LexisNexis Internet Law Bulletin on some indications of emerging trends.

"A total of 242 notifications were received during the period which is a large increase on the 63 notifications received in the January to March period (noting this was a partial reporting period given the February 22 commencement). With only 30 voluntary notifications made in the 12 months before the introduction of the scheme it points to a substantial increase in the number of notifications being made."
