Following South Africa's Zondo Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture, Corruption and Fraud in the Public Sector including Organs of State, there is a heightened focus on public law to tackle prevalent issues facing South Africa. These include the need for effective accountability, consequence management, improved service delivery, infrastructure development and sound public finance management. The revelations and investigations brought forth during the Zondo Commission have underscored the importance of effective legal measures including appropriate and fit-for-purpose regulatory frameworks to advance accessibility, quality, transparency and accountability in both public and private sectors. In light of this, we welcome the formalisation of our Public Law practice, with its dedicated service designed to offer comprehensive constitutional, regulatory, advisory, transactional and litigation support to clients across various industries in both the private and public sectors.

Leveraging our extensive expertise built over more than two decades, we provide exceptional guidance and technical expertise in this domain, and our public law practice brings together a team of highly skilled and experienced attorneys who possess an in-depth understanding of the intricacies of public law. Leading the practice is renowned public law expert Pippa Reyburn, who, along with administrative, constitutional and regulatory law specialist Yana van Leeve, is well-equipped to help clients navigate complex regulatory requirements and provide valuable advisory, transactional and litigation services.

According to Mzi Mgudlwa, CE of ENSafrica, "We have always been at the cutting edge of public law, and now, with this formalised practice, we can deliver even greater value to our clients by providing them with specialised expertise and comprehensive support in this crucial area of law."

ENSafrica Chairman, Michael Katz, added, "In a climate of infrastructure challenges, public-private partnerships are becoming more important than ever. Our Public Law practice is a testament to our firm's recognition of the significance of public law and the role it plays in Africa."
