Foley Hoag International Litigation & Arbitration Department Global Co-Chair Christina Hioureas was a featured arbitrator at the Equal Representation in Arbitration (ERA) Pledge's Inaugural Meet the Female Arbitrators event, held at the New York Times Building on March 20, 2023.
The event, hosted in conjunction with the New York International Arbitration Center and Herbert Smith Freehills, offered the opportunity for in-house counsel, corporate leaders, and arbitration practitioners to meet with esteemed female arbitrators in the United States.
At Foley Hoag, Hioureas represents States, private and State-owned entities, and individuals in international disputes and public international law matters and advises States on matters before the United Nations and its bodies. Hioureas regularly serves as Presiding, Sole, Emergency and Co-Arbitrator in international commercial disputes, including under UNCITRAL, ICC, ICDR, AAA, and LCIA Rules, seated in jurisdictions ranging from New York, California, Washington, D.C., and Florida to Canada, France, Luxembourg, Sweden, and the U.K.
The ERA Pledge seeks to increase, on an equal opportunity basis, the number of women appointed as arbitrators in order to achieve a fair representation as soon practically possible, with the ultimate goal of full parity.
